The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization named San Antonio a World Heritage Site in 2015, the first and only Texas city so honored. San Antonio's five Spanish Colonial missions – San Jose, San Juan, Espada, Concepcion, and The Alamo – are the first and only UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Texas, and one of 24 in the country.
